Fort Lauderdale lowered STR fees

The Fort Lauderdale city commissioners voted to reduce the fee to apply to be a vacation rental owner by more than half to $350, and reduced the renewal fee from $500 to $160. Fort Lauderdale is hoping the lowered fees encourage more rental owners to legally operate.

The environment for vacation rentals could be improving statewide soon. The Florida Legislature is considering a bill, SB 188/HB 425 that would require municipalities to regulate vacation rentals like all other housing.
